ALL Kids Play
COS has NO accessible northwest playground
Accessible playgrounds are designed to ensure that children of all abilities, including those with physical, sensory or cognitive disabilities, can play together. These playgrounds feature equipment and surfaces that accommodate mobility devices like wheelchairs, provide sensory rich experiences, and often include adaptive swings, ramps and other inclusive play structures. The goal is to create an environment where all children can engage, interact, and enjoy play without barriers.
Our commitment to accessibility is unwavering. Through your donations, we pave the way for a brighter future where every kid can laugh, learn, and thrive on the playground.
Woodmen Valley Playground is NEARLY 30 years old and -NOT- ADA compliant. Almost all edging is falling apart leaving exposed edges and rust - posing a major safety risk for kids! The time to renovate is NOW. Our estimated cost is $300,000 and estimated timeline for completion is Late Summer/Fall 2025.
This rebuild will be completed in partnership with LuBird’s Light Foundation as our fiscal sponsor, The University of Colorado, Colorado Springs Engineering Department for playground concept and design, The Colorado Springs Office of Accessibility for ADA accommodations & Colorado Springs Parks & Recreation for installation.
100% of funding is through tax deductible donations.
